Every year Fruit Logistica Fair is accompanied by an extensive program of additional events - presentations, conferences and seminars. For many of them admission is free, which encourages visitors for active participation. The topics are mainly focused on the issues of development of the international market for fresh food products.

The biggest distinction during the fair is the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award, the prize for innovation awarded by the visitors themselves, who for two days can cast their votes for candidates which were earlier nominated. On the last day of the fair, during the ceremony this year the award was given to Danish enterprise “Rijk Zwan”. They presented a new property of their varieties of lettuce, which delays staining the leaves with pink color after harvesting. This method is called "Knox ™". The company has a representative office in Poland. More information can be found on the winner’s page.

Lublin accent during Fruit Logistica 2017

As you know Lubelskie voivodeship is famous for the production and processing of fruit and vegetables. Our region is the national leader in  harvesting of soft fruit. That is why the Fruit Group "Polish Berries" was also present during the fair. The group consists of suppliers of the highest quality berries, especially high blueberries. It consists of five plantations cultivating blueberries on the total area of 180 ha. In addition, the Berlin trade fair for the first time promoted the Polish Berry Cooperative. This is an initiative created by three groups of blueberries producers - Polish Berries, Blueberries Producers Group Podkarpacka Elliot and Wielkopolska Berry Group.

Orchards in Lubelskie region are mainly apple trees. Pears, plums, cherries and sweet cherries are in the minority. That's why at the fair you could find representation of the fruit growers form Lubelskie voivodeship named “LubApple”. The group brings together six large entities: ZPO Stryjno-Sad, Lubsad Sp. o.o., Józefów Sad Sp. o.o., Witabo Sp. o.o., FruVitaLand Sp. o.o. and ZPO Sadpol, which makes the group one of the largest apple producers in Europe.  They export not only to the EU, but also to China, Egypt, Libya and the United Arab Emirates.

“Biznes Lubelskie” Team also presented an offer of local products, and encouraged for cooperation with producers from the region. The effect of our active participation is a number of established contacts, which may pay off in the future. We spoke with the representatives of potential partners from Greece, Slovenia, Mongolia, China and the United Arab Emirates.  Business card exchange, discussions and presentations will be the basis for further correspondence and cooperation development plans.

It is worth to emphasise that organic food is a great opportunity for the development of the food industry in Lubelskie region, and for the expansion of our products on foreign markets. Consumers’ growing awareness about a healthy lifestyle, including a healthy diet, increases the demand for natural and organic products.  In addition, the image of Lubelskie as a region of unspoiled nature gives the opportunity to develop the brands appealing to healthy eating.  This is confirmed by the increasing number of organic farms.
