POLISH BUSINESS AND INNOVATION  WEEK IN NEVADA - LUBELSKIE VOIVODESHIP SIGNED A LETTER OF INTENT WITH STATE OF NEVAD

 

A delegation from the Lublin Province headed by Vice Marshal Mr Dariusz Stefaniuk took part in the Polish Business and Innovation Week in Nevada.

The series of events were inaugurated by the official visit of the President of the Republic of Poland Mr Andrzej Duda on June 15th.Last part of the programme was a study visit to the KGHM mine - the largest Polish investment in the United States

The Polish Week of Business and Innovation began with a meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda during presentation prepared by the Łukasiewicz Research Network.

Engineers from the Institute took part in unprecedented tests of the unmanned Aircraft Traffic Management (UTM) system in the urbanized area, which took place in the city of Reno. Research Network Łukasiewicz - Institute of Aviation was the only foreign institution invited to participate in American maneuvers.

The coordinator of the entire project was NASA's Ames Research Center in cooperation with the Nevada Institute of Autonomous Systems (NIAS) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The tests were attended by academic and scientific institutions and significant global companies operating on the drone market.

The shows included two locations - the center of Reno and the airport Reno Stead. The Lublin Province, has started talks with the Institute to carry out joint projects in the future.

 

The official opening of the Polish Business and Innovation Week in Nevada

Exactly at noon, at the Nevada Museum of Art, President of the Republic of Poland Mr Andrzej Duda officially opened the Polish Week of Business and Innovation. The president admitted that he feels proud that Poland is establishing such strong relations with the United States, which manifests itself in numerous investments, and the best example of that relation is the presence of Polish institutions, local governments and entrepreneurs during the event.

In his speech, the President stressed that the event is a great example of the developing and extremely dynamic cooperation between Poland and the state of Nevada.

“I am very happy that more and more Polish and American entrepreneurs and representatives of research and development centers take part in it” - he said and paid particular attention to the Lubelskie Voivodeship's involvement in establishing relations and development of the only such a acceleration program in Poland and even in EuropeSigning of letters of intent.

 

 

The official speeches ended with the signing of two letters of intent in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland Mr Andrzej Duda. The first, between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the State of Nevada, with was signed by the ViceMarshal of the Lublin Voivodeship Mr Dariusz Stefaniuk and Mr Kristopcher Sanchez - Executive Director at the Governor's Office for Economic Development.

By signing a letter of intent, both sides of agreement expressed their intention to create and implement a joint, multi-stage acceleration program aimed at supporting enterprises in developing their business potential, acquiring financing and commercializing innovations, as well as developing project management skills.

 

 

The second letter of intent was signed between representatives of Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Aviation and KGHM S.A. in the scope of research and development works involving the use of unmanned aerial systems to perform tasks related to mining operations.

 

The last point of the programme, and at the same time the visit of the President of the Republic of Poland to Nevada was a meeting with entrepreneurs and start-ups from Poland and Nevada. A group of four student start'ups from Nevada, selected in a competition that took place at a local university, will come to Poland in October to take part in a dedicated acceleration programme. Poland was represented by four entrepreneurs who successfully entered the US market and started or will soon start operating on the local market. The team consisted of three entrepreneurs from the Lublin province - graduates of the first NLABacceleration programme: Nevada-Lublin Acceleration Bridge:

-Spin-O: producer of an innovative oven for baking pizza in just few minutes.

- Pro-Project Henryk Kartaszyński: The only Polish company producing instruments for testing diagnostic equipment

- CMS4Media: a media group gathering independent publishers of newspapers and internet portals as well as radio and television broadcasters.

 

As part of the event, the Governor's Office for Economic Development has organized a series of intensive meetings, presentations and study visits in companies such as Tesla Gigafactory and Switch, whose aim was to present the economic ecosystem in Nevada.

Representatives of the voivodship held a series of meetings and talks, the effect of which can be jointly implemented projects at both national and international level.

Participation of the delegation from the Lublin Voivodship in the Polish Business and Innovation Week in Nevada is the result of a long-term cooperation, which dates back to 2015, when the first incoming economic mission took place. Both regions, by virtue of the concluded agreement, consistently implement actions aimed at strengthening economic cooperation. The delegation, along with entrepreneurs and employees of the Marshals Office in Lublin, also included a representation from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

The Polish Business and Innovation Week was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Enterprise and Technology, National Center for Research and Development, Polish-American Chamber of Commerce, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Łukasiewicz Research Network - Institute of Aviation and numerous entrepreneurs, as well as academics and representatives of Polish business environment institutions.
